Antonio Conte to Tottenham is now looking very unlikely after a breakdown in talks.
Spurs were hopeful of appointing the former Chelsea manager after a long pursuit for Jose Mourinho's successor, following his sacking in April.
Conte was a serial winner in spells with Juventus, Chelsea and most recently Inter Milan
However, their search looks set to continue after talks with Conte were called off on Friday.
According to widespread reports, the Italian held reservations about the club's ambition and wasn't convinced by the project Daniel Levy proposed.
Conte also wanted to bring more than four staff members and demanded a salary €3million higher than Spurs were willing to offer.
On the other side, Tottenham grew concerned about the 51-year-old's age and whether he would be committed to blooding the club's young players.

Talks are expected to continue over the weekend, but there is now very little chance Conte will become the next Tottenham manager.
The club are still pushing ahead with their plan to appoint Fabio Paratici as sporting director, a move which will not be affected by the latest developments, despite his previous relationship with Conte at Juventus.
Former Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino insists Conte was always the wrong man for the job, urging Spurs to appoint someone who will take care of their young talent.
"One thing Mourinho didn't do at Tottenham was bring through younger players like Japhet Tanganga," the talkSPORT host said.
Spurs were also unsuccessful in their bid to lure Mauricio Pochettino back from PSG
"Harry Winks went backwards. Troy Parrott might not have been good enough, but the younger element of the team has not been developing at Tottenham."
Meanwhile, Cascarino has called on Spurs to appoint club legend Jurgen Klinsmann, who is currently available.
"He's a hugely intelligent man and had great success with Germany," Cascarino said.
"Klinsmann would be a very smart move, he's adored by the fans and he had a big impact in Germany.

"People will say it went pear-shaped at Bayern Munich, but Bayern were in terrible shape when he took them.
"I think he's a viable option for Spurs. Yes, it's a risky one, but don't tell me any guarantee comes with a manager.
"The guarantee was Mourinho and that didn't work out very well, did it?"
