The Permanent Temporary Prop

If you ever wanted to our the Walt Disney Studios in its prime, the best way is to watch The Reluctant Dragon (1941). This delightful little film follows author Robert Benchley as he tries to pitch a children's book to Walt.

One of the most familiar props is a sign at the corner of Mickey Avenue and Dopey Drive. This sign is so popular that a miniature version was sold in limited editions.

The fits in nicely and was temporary. Well somebody must have forgot. Over time it become Pluto's Corner. And for very good reason. Note the fire hydrant.

Seems Pluto has left an impression.

You can also see a rather weird Mickey up on top. I overheard Cast Members saying it did not meet the official standard.
A rare view of the backside of the sign.
