Let me tell you, I am feeling a lot more upbeat today than I did on Wednesday. The second half of the week was actually ok, work and all. I even went for another gym class and this time I managed to get myself up from a series of squats. I worked at home on Friday afternoon because I needed to get a train into town at 4 pm sharply. You see, I had a blind date of sorts. Doris from 'Inspired Follies' was visiting Glasgow with her husband. She had emailed me a few weeks ago if I fancied meeting up. I did. Of course I did. I feel very much at home at Inspired Follies. You must check it out if you haven't done so already. I was a bit nervous, as is normal when you meet someone whom you have not met before. We met in the pub and quickly settled into a comfortable conversation. I knew we would, Doris is just the kind of woman I like to spend time with. After a couple of drinks we moved on to Gandolfi Fish, a favourite of mine. The food is very very good there. To start with, I had smoked salmon with the tiniest of tiny capers and other teeny tiny squares of vegetables. I am salivating as I type. My main course was beer battered haddock and chips. I cannot resist any variation of fish and chips. The haddock was enormous and the chips hot and crispy. The tartare sauce for fresh and tangy. I couldn't quite finish. Oh how I regret this now. The time was passing far too quickly and before I was quite ready, we had to say goodbye. I do hope we'll meet up again in the not too distant future. Saturday was nice, too. I spent the morning cleaning the upstairs, listening to a new audiobook. I quite like a good clean when I get into the swing of it. By the time I reached the downstairs I had enough. Annie made lunch for us and then I suggested a walk but nobody wanted to leave the cosiness of the house. I went on my own. It is nice to have children old enough to leave in charge of the younger ones. Jack and I walked for a good hour along the river and canal. I didn't bring my camera but I wish I had. There were kinds of ducks I had never seen before, and the cormorants were flying, too. In the evening I was knitting on James jumper and watching accelerated episodes of the X files. Accelerated because I sometimes choose to fast forward. Streaming shows on the computer is great for that. I am a serial binge watcher. I am also watching The Walking Dead but I needed a bit of a break from zombies and dead people. Sunday was all about me. Richard brought me coffee and breakfast to bed (no, I am afraid you can't borrow him). Jack and I went for a wee jog and then I went to the Stitchery to spend an afternoon sewing. I worked on the Sew Me Something Imogen blouse that I mentioned in my last post. I can tell you now that I don't like the pattern. I may not finish but I don't know yet. Instead, I started to work on my patchwork quilt. Now that I liked. So much so that I carried on into the evening, adding a few more rows. I thought I might procrastinate over the order of squares but I don't didn't. My pile of squares is divided roughly into colour groups and I just move up and down the pile, picking a random square here and there. It is most enjoyable. Thus rested and happy, I feel ready to tackle another week. I hope you all had a lovely weekend, too. xx
